DIMENSIONAL FINE ARTIST PATRICK J. MURPHY

CONTINUES WINNING STREAK -

FIRST PLACE AT SAN DIEGO COUNTY FAIR

For Immediate Release

Temecula, CA - July 6, 2016 - Patrick J. Murphy brings home another blue ribbon. His unique, three-dimensional pieces stand out even in the most crowded venues. Recently, his “Hands of the Artist" was among 1600 entries of which 600 were selected, for the prestigious San Diego County Fair Fine Art Show. He won First Place in the mixed-media category where his piece hung at the entrance of the exhibit where it was enjoyed by tens of thousands of art lovers. In fact several members of the exhibit staff commented, “Murphy’s work of art is our favorite.” The same piece recently took home top honors at the Fallbrook Artists Guild exhibit where it won Best of Show.

During the Fallbrook Art Association awards presentation Judge Sally Strand spoke of the “Three C’s” she looks for in a work of art. “The best work has a strong Concept, Cohesively carried throughout the work in a professionally Crafted manner.”

In discussing Murphy’s work later in the evening Strand said, “Any of the three pieces Patrick Murphy entered in this show meet my criteria for great art. His “Hands of the Artist” took my criteria a step further. Thus I judged it “Best of Show.” ·

It took Murphy more than two years to develop his unique approach to his art, combining photography, digital painting, sculpted paper, acrylics and pastels that result in eye-popping, three-dimensional impressionist pieces. His healing artwork has the flavor of a Georgia O’Keefe painting with Murphy's childlike sense of discovery and playfulness. A nature lover, he creates with light - from the earth, woods, mist, shadows, sky, flowers and fire.

"When I am creating a new piece, I feel as though I'm an observer watching the work emerge on its own, right before my eyes. I love to invite the viewer into the art," explains Murphy, with his characteristic twinkle. "I can't imagine not making art. I have a hunger to discover, understand and capture the spirit of that which is hidden inside everything in creation, and to present that essence in a way that delights the viewer."

And delight he does!

“I can honestly say that gazing at Patrick’s work makes me feel peace and joy. “
